BRENTWOOD SELO 177
SUB AQUA CLUB
The sort of diving the Club can offer
The type
of Diving is dictated by the club membership due to the fact it is
the members that organise the diving to whatever part of the world,
and whatever type of diving attracts them.
However looking back, club members have organised trips to UK sites
in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Hartlepool, Wales, southern Ireland,
Scotland, Sussex and Orkney. Further a field to America, France,
Norway, Turkey, Egypt, Majorca and Micronesia.
As regards to the type of diving this would range from training
dives from the club rib or a chartered hard boat such as the Wey
chieftain (www.wey-chieftain.co.uk) which is based in Weymouth as
well as using inland sites such as Stoney Cove (www.stoneycove.com)
or Gildenburgh (www.divein.co.uk/ gildenburgh). As well as training
dives, our club members are interested in wreck diving, reefs,
marine life, photography, videography and this normally dictates the
type of diving as well as the depth, range and conditions.
The club does not seem to have a diving season, we average
approximately 400 dives a year spread across the whole range of the
already mentioned categories. During the winter months some might
say only the hardened divers carry on diving in the UK whilst more
sensible folk head off to warmer climes to continue with their
sport.
